First Contact Physiotherapy

Who is it?

We have Tanya Coates every Tuesday/Thursday and we can book directly into her clinic from the triage list.

She sees people with new onset problems and decides on the best course of action for further management.

If you are already having physiotherapy, are being seen by the musculoskeletal team or are due to have surgery this is not the correct service for you.

The local physiotherapy service for more complex problems is accessed via self referral. Please ask at reception for a form.

What will she see?

You may be eligible for an appointment with Tanya for the following problems:

  • All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
  • Arthritis – any joint
  • Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, eg tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
  • Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
  • Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness
  • Changes to walking
  • Post-orthopaedic surgery

She will:

  • Assess you and diagnose what’s happening
  • Give expert advice on how best to manage your condition
  • Refer you on to specialist services if necessary
